14" arcs, staccato effects, SSTC first light

Hi All.

Over the past couple of weeks, Aron and I have been making boards
like crazy, testing schematics, layouts, req'd number of parts, etc.
etc.

We've finally settled on a design we made, based on a NE556 IC (two
555's in one) where the first timer controls the second timer via the
output and reset pins. The first timer is staccato, the second is the
RF osc. Simple and cheap.

The circuit works better than we planned, with staccato control
anywhere from always-on to 10kHz and higher.

We are both getting 14" swordlike arcs with half-wave rectified
240VAC input with no staccato, using our 556 driver boards. Input
power is roughly a kilowatt.

Our power switching is done with an H-bridge design by Richie
Burnett, and works flawlessly on both mine and Aron's SSTC's.

TO SEE IT! www.hvguy-dot-com, there is a small paragraph in green font at
the very top, you will see the link.

Enjoy.
