Complex power is real power plus reactive power, S=P+jQ. Real power is that
which is dissipated in a resistor, reactive power is that which cycles back
and forth between the generator and reactive elements (caps and inductors).
Look at the complex power as a vector (or phasor) whose angle from the
horizontal axis is the phase difference between the voltage and current
(called the power factor angle). The components of the vector are P (real
power) along the x axis and Q (reactive power) parallel to y axis. Complex
power is measured in Volt Amps (VA) and average real power is measured in
Watts.

Hello all,
I have a simple question.. whats the difference
between a VA and a Watt?
