Terry, All

Got my IDR aluminum plate :^)) today, 18" od, 4.875" id,
1/8" thick. Measured Rdc using 4 point Kelvin method,
11.3A injection current was ~1.9 milliohms circumferential
(approximate resistance full loop). Worse case
Rac <5 milliohms at maximum operating Fo of 350kHz.
.
Preliminary L of both primaries facing each other wired in
series is 70uH, separated by approximately 8 " was 50uH.
I placed a piece of aluminum plate in space between both
primaries where IDR will call home, Lp plummeted to 40uH
(estimated k ~0.6). Assuming all 18 turns employed and
Ztransform is equal to turn ratio squared, will reflect
<<5 ohms series Z max into tank circuit. Tank circuit Zo
at 220Khz calculates out to approximate 60 ohms, so
IDR will reflect less then 10% worse case into tank.

Circulating current depending on active primary turns, k,
and input voltage modeled in the 0.5-2.2kA range. Maximum
heat load assuming 2% DC was in the 200-500W range again
based on previously mentioned factors of k, primary turns and
input kV (Tank Ipk). 8' of glass reinforced polyester rods
(0.375"OD) on order to allow independent height adjustment
of both primaries, IDR and resonator. Measurement of k,
resonant F, and resonator characterization about 2 weeks
away. This is really beginning to look interesting...
