sec coil zap ouch!

Hi guy's
I ran my coil last night in the foundry at Mass-art. What a great show.
I would like to point out two things.
1.
Power- 2, 12/60 nst : I was using about 300mf of pfc on them but last night
I didn't. The amp meter read a steady 22 amps. With the PFC it is usually
down to 17 or 18. It seemed to me that the coil was making stronger sparks.
Sec coil- 4" x36 1700 turns 24 awg: I used to use a 10"x 36" wound with
22awg. (It burnt up) I got 60" to 64" streamers from both coils. So in
the end the smaller 4" coil is easier to handle and setup and gave the same
streamer length.
2.
When I was braking down the coil at the end of the night I was zapped by my
sec coil twice. It was obviously residual capacitance. Why did this
happen? When I turn the coil off the stray capacitance should flow to
ground. Shouldn't it? I hate getting whacked!
Read you later
