Actually, the solid state tesla coils are quieter when you look at what kind
of garbage is put back through
the 120V/240V input power line.
However, they do produce much more INTENSE RF fields than a conventional
tesla coil at the same power levels.
As I said before, when I run my large SSTC, I can pull about 0.5" arcs off
anything metallic within a 10 foot
range of the coil at full power.
