just make a shim out of cardboard - stack up as many pieces as you have
gaps, and measure it - if it's not enough, use thinner stock. when its
about right, put a piece between each pipe segment and glue them down, then
drill into each pipe from the outside - I used CA glue to hold mine
temporarily
