RE: Musically Responsive TC's

Actually, these will NOT play music through your tesla coil (such as a
singing arc or something), but they could be used
to "dance" to your music. These neons first of all are switching power
supplies which have output frequencies of 100kHz+ usually. The "dancing"
effect is created through a peak-detector / comparator circuit which
basically turns on/off the output based on the peaks (beats) in the music.

It would be a very interesting effect, but could also be done on the
low-voltage side of any NST (60Hz) using some sort
of solid state switch to turn the NST on and off. Or even more elaborate
utilize some sort of solid state switch which could act linearly to provide
voltage to the input of the NST based on the magnitude of the music peaks
etc...

I stumbled accross a product on Tech 22 Neon product's website. It shows a
setup and product that allows you to use 3 neon transformer, one for treble,
one for bass, and one for midrange, to be controlled from music. I'm
imagining 3 Tesla coils (one powered by each tranny) all sparking to the
music. What do you think? Any opinions/thoughts are welcomed.
