This is an important concern. Remember that there is people today that
thinks that even the small radiation of cell phones may be harmful.
A Tesla coil generates local fields that are thousands of times larger
that anything that you can obtain from a cell phone, or a nearby
power line. I think that the main health hazard for coilers is ozone,
but there is also UV light, possible (improbable) X rays, and the
obvious risk of a fatal shock. Although most of this is paranoia, the
long term effects in people that is around Tesla coils for long time
would be a good indication of to what extent the thing is really just
paranoia. Tesla himself lived a long life, and other that a quite
weird personality, he appears to have not developed other problems...
