transformer help needed!

The short answer is no.

You may be thinking of running them backwards - power in to the 12V side
and out the 240V side.  Don't you'll just get a nasty bang :(  Too much
voltage
causes the transformer to saturate.

Even if you had 20 of them and but all the 12 volts in series and all the
240V
in series to give 240v (20*12) to 4800V (20*240V) you would then be putting
too much voltage between the primaries and the secondaries - another nasty
bang :( The insulation probably would take it - even if you grounded the
the secondary in the centre to give 2400-0-2400V you would still be taking
a risk
on the insulation quality.

Try to get hold of a neon transformer or several transformers from old
microwaves -
ask at the local tip.
