Rotary Gap Spacing

Hey all,
   Since I rebuilt my arsg, the length of my streamers are less than 
before.  The only thing different is that I have my electrodes closer 
together than before.  I've never tried to change the gapping on a rotary 
gap in order to tune my coil.  Before I go through all the trouble, I 
thought I would ask the list.  Will changing the gap width on a rotary 
spark gap change the tuning?  Currently there is about 1/16" or less gap.  
Should I try to open them up some more?
