This is sort of unrelated, but you can solder aluminum by filing the surface
down and using a high tin or zinc based solder. 60/40 electronic solder
works on aluminum foil if you are careful and the aluminum is clean. The
important part is to rub the solder on the aluminum with the soldering
iron.It will wet the surface and then solder properly.
