Re: NST REPAIR

stopped by a local neon shop and scored 10 nsts. a 12kv 30ma and mostly
6kv/7.5kv ones I'm guessing. I tried something that i thought
wouldnt' work...

propane oxygen torch on one of them. ran out of oxygen early (which was
probably a good luck for me.) it started well as the tar started to liquify
and was pouring out like wax out of a candle, but a bit more viscous. things
were going well until on of the primary wire's lead insultation flamed up a
little. I could have been more careful, but I've got 9 other xfmrs to play
with. if i waste one, oh well.

all appear dead. resistance on all secondaries were either infinte(open) or
1 to 19meg ohms. one with 20kohms on secondary, but primary was either open
or very high resistance.

all primaries, if not open were about 500kohms. they had gfis on them,
i'm not sure if the gfi would cause the high resitance. i would expect the
primary to be less than 100ohms.(more like less than 10ohms)
some of them i could access to the gfi and i could bypass it.

larry.
