eBay is not always reliable. I got a used variac quite cheap.
Unfortunately the middle of the windings are all loose where the wiper
contacts them. The thing was motor driven and that may explain the excess
wear. Be careful with eBay too.
OTOH, for $190, I agree with Dan.
