Re: Help, to much power draw with MMC

Hi Shaun,

The NST limits its current my using bypass shunts in the core. When it is
connected to an LTR cap, the shunts can go into saturation and the current
can increase greatly. That is what is happening in your case and it is not
surprising. I would be careful not to let it run like that for very long
or something may blow up. The main core could also be saturating.

There is thinking that such an effect could be used to get far greater
power out of an NST and Gary Lau's coil seems to be doing this. It is sort
of scarry to recommend to anybody to try but the effect is very real.
Unfortunately, little is known about it or how to control or design for it.

When you get it all hooked up to a coil, it will all work fine. I guess I
would be very carful about hooking a cap to an NST without a spark gap and
all there.

Cheers,

	Terry
