Ok Ok.....Sheesh :)
If your Dad's welder is a single phase "buzz box" type
(no moving parts, save for a fan). Then your in luck!
Simply wire the 240 volt input of the welder in series
with the 240 "input" of your pole pig. You can then
either simply "short" the welding terminals together
(which will pass the most current through the ckt)
Alternately, you can connect the welding leads to one
or more paralelled stove or oven elements, water
heater elements, or some other resistive device(s).
The tap changer of the welder or "moving iron core"
will allow you to increase or decrease current
accordingly. If you need more current, then short the
leads of the welder. If you have too much, keep
scaling back the R value connected to the welder.
For more info, go to "kiki's neon bookmarks" and read
the articles on bombarding transformers and all the
stuff from neon john.
Hope this helps and BE CAREFULL! You will be playing
with LETHAL current from the HV bushings of the
pig...one wrong move and that's it!!!!
Lots o luck and HAVE FUN!... and hey, if your sellin
any spare pigs, holler, my neon buddies are always
pestering the hell out of me for em.
Cheers,
Jack King
