I had not actually thought of that - it may work quite well. Theoretically
the internal ballasting inside the NST should stop the neon from being
cooked, so long as the ouputs are in phase. however, the MOT secondary may
be cooked by the HV although in the near short-circuit of tesla coil use, I
doubt that this would really be a problem. I suppose it is the same as using
a low current HV supply to strike an arc on the welder, so the real current
can flow... It may work. If you have a crappy old neon and a MOT that you
dont mind losing, try it!!!
