Bill:
1. I am using an Allanson 15/60 NST
2. I am using the triggered gap
3. Both are being used in a fairly heavy duty cycle at Hangman's House of
Horrors. The average evening is from 7 PM to 12M...but occasionally til 1AM.
The operator, using a remote, turns the coil on for 10-15 seconds then off
for 30-45 seconds. All night!
The transformer is holding up just fine.
If I get the go ahead to build a 15/180 for next year I will use the same
trigger gap but instead of 1/8 welding rods, I will use copper rod faced
with carbide.

This has been asked before, but I'd like some definitive verification:
Can a triggered spark gap, such as described in Ted Rosenbergs PDF
article, be used with an NST power supply? I'm thinking of the problem
NST's have with rotary gaps - that the rotary gap should be synchronous
AND in correct phase. I'm assuming the TSG is always synchronous, and
that the dimmer can be used to adjust the phase. Correct? Yet I've
read that they're not suitable for NST use (I'm using three - going on
four - 15/60's).
