Marc, all:
First, I don't use a digital camera for many reasons I won't go into here.
I use a Minolta Maxxum loaded, usually, with 100 or 200 film.
With the camera on a tripod, and the flash mounted, I set the camera for M
<manual> and set the time for B and the f/stop for 8 or 11.
Then with the coil running, I fire the camera.
The flash fires and illuminates the coil. The shutter remains open (on "B")
for about 8 seconds to record the dancing arcs and streamers.
This technique worked for my coil, Aron's coil at the N. TX thon all the way
to Kevin Eldridge's BIGGG coil in Oklahoma. And the Hangmans House of
Horrors last year. See

I will have more photos of the new coil in a few days.
Safety First
Ted

Hi list,
Before I go and waste a roll of film, I would like to know from those who
have
photographed their coils in action: what is the best f/stop, shutter speed,
and
ASA film to use that produces those quality photos?
I am currently planning to use a multi-function 35mm camera on tripod with
200
ASA film. Just curious what you guys use to get the best shots.
Thanks!
Marc B.
