Mini bipolar magnifier
Original poster: "Luc by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <ludev-at-videotron.ca>
Hi list,
I'm in the process of building a new research coil for my
apartment. for many years I rented for cheap a small shop in the
basement of a drug store, lately the owner of the place take the
place back for storage of his stock :-(( now all my power tool
and teals stuff are in storage in my sister garage.
I decided to build a small coil mainly for research (
measurement, gap testing, etc. ) and I need to build a coil not
too big because I want to be able to fire it in my small third
floor apartment. I want versatility I want to build a coil that I
could use in regular configuration, bipolar, magnifier and
bipolar magnifier.
Soon I'll build 2 coils 3.5" X 18" white PVC wind with 28 AWG
wire. This week I'll buy the wire at my motor repair shop. My
question is for the secondary coil of the magnifier ( driver ) I
want your suggestion what size of wire do I need to buy 18, 20,
22 ? I'm open to suggestion. I have different short piece of pipe
for it from 4.5" to 12". It'll be my first magnifier, I really
like to build it according to the Antonio Carlos Moreirão de
Queiroz paper Designing a Tesla Magnifier:
http://www.coe.ufrj.br/~acmq/tesla/magnifier.html
But the math and some concept are too advanced for the knowledge
I have. Any suggestion for the driver section of my magnifier is welcome.
Cheers,
Luc Benard
