Hi Jonathan, All,

 I ordered a tape of 1000 1N4007 (1kv1A) diodes from Digikey. Cost me $38
and change for them, and it was probably some of the best spent TC'ing
money. I string them up to 2.5-3x the peak AC voltage, and don't worry
about resistors or caps across them. They've served very well on my pig up
to 3kva or so (4 40kv diodes for full-wave rectification), and I'm going to
use more of them for my tube coil setup. It's probably the most economical
way to go (unless you can find tons of MOT diodes really cheap). I've made
tons of diodes and still have about half the tape left. Been over a year
now, and I still got diodes that are goin' strong. You can mount them on PC
boards (easiest way) or string them together and stuff them in a piece of
PVC, fill it with melted vaseline/wax/whatever, add brass terminals and seal
it all up for a really pro-looking diode. Using a string of 4007's gives
you total choice in voltage and current capability.
       Just my $.02

Shad
