Robert: Maybe you missed the "where do the resistors go" thread.
My original schematic got changed after discussions with Terry and Marc.
The two 8 ohms do NOT go across the 120V in.
They ultimately were placed in-line (series) with the HOT lead to the HEI
coil after the Lutron.

I had the same effect when I hooked them up the first time...hot enough to
warm the whole house!

Sorry if there was any permanent damage.

Terry: I think I need to update the PDF and resend it to you :(

Safety First and watch out for hot resistors

Ok, i tried just hooking up the lutron fandial, the discrete components,
and the HEI coil drawing arcs to a dedicated ground from the output of
the HEI coil. (metlicka gap) and my perfboard started on fire and i
boiled water on the resistors. I'm sure i hooked everything up properly
but i didn't use a cooling fan hooked up in series with the other
components. is that my problem or did I just screw up big time? thanks
Robert
