The BBQ and unpotting NST's

Hello ye'all,

Today I attempted to unpot an NST in the families BBQ. Was this a bad
idea? I sent out some smoke signal at which time I turned down the heat,
but I am questioning if I cas still saftly use the family BBQ for cooking
food. Is it permenanly contaminated from tar smoke, some even fell inside.
I am so emarrased, I used an aluminum cooking roaster inside a regular
roasting pan, both which I can toss. But the BBQ..... I was originally
going to change the lava rocks and run it full temp. for a while.

Can you tell me about this and what is the soaking in solvents going to be
like.
