Except that those are generally solid state flyback type inverters
specifically designed to run neon tubes, and don't take well to extended
runs at the "strike" voltage.  Their efficiency is really bad at peak
voltage (because they are really designed to be a constant current source at
a few hundred volts, after the discharge is "ignited").
