While your plan will certainly work, the resulting primary coil will be
considerably larger and use more tubing than necessary.  Using 1/2"
center-center spacing is typical and will result in a higher pri-sec
coupling coefficient.

I am planning a flat coil, using 1/4 inch copper tubing. I want 15 turns
with
.75 inch space between each turn measured edge to edge (or 1 inch center to
center).
Sound OK ????????
