HI Alan and list , I have one of the Jeffersons which Alan is refering to and
it works great ! I have scince depotted two other of these NST's and the only
thing to be carful of is when emptying the contents. The secondary coils can
be damaged if not carefully emptied into the solvent. To get the shunts out I
used a die grinder with a two inch cut off disc and removed eight of the
shunts per corner of the inside of the core .
With the France formers which have removeable shunts ,depotting is a little
less complicated and they have a frame surrounding the core which helps to
keep
everything inside from getting damaged upon unpotting .
Ross Overstreet did a great job with a France former and removed all the
shunts and
got something like 200 ma. out of it ! I don't know if he uses a current
limiting device or not though ,all I know is that his coil " ROCKS ".
