Hi, well first it is an element. it turns hard and brittle in a few hours
after being melted. it can be threaded if you grind the thread with a
diamond wheel. it is very abrasive,and difficult to machine. in the machine
shop where i worked tungsten parts that we made were ground with diamond
wheels.
it can withstand great heat before it melts so most lamp filiaments use
tungsten or an alloy of tungsten. cul brian f.
