Biggg Coil run

Dave Wightman came down last weekend, And took some digital pic's of
the Biggg Coil with his new nifty micro camara. They can be seen at
www.flash-dot-net/~kreld/kevin's.htm. Click on Bigg Coil page. We ran the
Coil with an async high break rate rotary first, results were
predictable. Only several feet of toroid discharge, and close to 200
amp input. That rotary was chucked out, and the 120 BPS rotary went back
in. Tests were again done with the vacuum static gap in series with
the rotary. It just plain had better discharges without the static gap,
it seems last year it worked better with the static gap in series, but
that might have been when it was running 240 BPS, memory problems after 8
months since experiment.
There was some wind again that night, but managed 22 foot plus
discharges. There was a strike to the rotary gap power lead we think,
which blew a fuse, the low voltage DC regulator & contactor drive
circuit. 15 minutes later after slight modification, sparks were flying
again.
Still working on the voltage divider for the o-scope voltage reading
experiment & future varible phase adjustable 120 BPS rotary.
