Welcome to the list. My suggestion is that you please stop doing that!!!!!!
The next time you do it you may be killed. Perhaps your hands were very dry
that day, or you didn't grab hold that well. At any rate you were extremely
lucky. Please be more careful. I got a shock from a 30,000 VDC supply once
that connected to a load, and only capable of delivering 30 uA. I was very
lucky that my head didn't hit the bench behind me when I flew off the stool,
otherwise I would have cracked my skull! The mistake I made was that I
assumed the high voltage cable didn't have a hole in it as I tweeked the HV
adjust pot that was near where the HV output cable exited the supply (bad
design or what?).
