Scot is correct here. The DC resistance will probably be negligible if a
short actually exist because
it will be only 1 or 2 turns shorted. Don't get bogged down on this carbon
tracking inspection. This
may not at be the problem. Simply spend a little time looking for any
burned areas on primary or
sparkgap frames and surfaces of the interior and exterior of the secondary.
If a good visual
inspection detects nothing out of the ordinary, the problem is probably
elsewhere. The key here is to
simply take a good look and then go on to the next possibility.
