I don't think silicone seal would be a good idea, although it sounds good,
one bubble or one missed space might end up with ionized air that might
provide a track for a spark. What I have heard is better is to coat with
poly or better yet, dissasemble the core and wind about 20mm or more of poly
plastic around the core where the secondaries go on. You can warm it in hot
water to make it more pliable.
