Party cup baffles Was - RE: Ryan's Coil = Salvaged :-)

Plastic cups make great baffles, at least for me they did. They are easy to
cut and place and they are cheap! I have used party cups as well as the
plastic cups from fast food places. I had to cut them so they would fit
snugly and then I glue them in place and then spray and spray several coats
of poly over it to close up any remaining gaps. I've had no trouble with
this method. Just make sure you remember to remove any metallic stickers
from the cup before inserting.

Hi Ryan,

At the very least I think you should cut yourself some baffle disks and
glue them in place inside your secondary form to create two or three
compartments. This will aid in preventing a recurrance of your inside
arc-over which was likely caused by your initial tuning error.

I'd glue the baffles in place on a very dry day so that there is mimimal
moisture trapped within the secondary. On my new secondary which I'm in
the process of building at this time, I'm going to purge the inside with
dry nitrogen gas before sealing it up.
