Martin:
You are asking a question that would take hours to answer.
If this is your first coil, I strongly suggest starting smaller and learn
what constitutes a good, efficient coil. And above all, learn to think and
be safe in building it. That not only includes the electric aspect but the
dangers of shop tools. Even I burned my finger on a propane soldered bracket
before I let it cool enough last Saturday. That's called 'dumb.'

My first coil was a conservative 900W. I used a single 15/60 NST, Terry's
protection circuit, a static gap of my own design made from 9 copper couple
tubes (no fan required and easy to get each at the right gap/per tube), and
an MMC.
I wound my 6" diameter, #22 wire secondary on a 34" length of Plexiglas. The
primary was 21" diam. 1/4 refig tubing, 1/4 spaced supported by HDPE and
threaded.

The important thing is that I learned a bunch along the way, I didn't kill
myself and the coil worked from the start. I get 24-30" streamers/sparks
every day - see the photo of the Hangman House of Horror setup - URL below.

Now I can make it better by replacing the static gap with an SRSG and a LTR
MMC value. I can also replace the secondary with one of more turns of finer
wire.

But you start small.

A 10 foot arc would likely require about 5KW. This means a 220 pig, ballast
and a fork lift for the 300 pounder. Not my cup of javascript. Sorry.

Jump on the Tesla Ring and surf some great sites. Look at the photos and do
the math as Charles Brush once told me. He is RIGHT.

Safety First

Ted

P.S. Look over the photos I posted at

Hey Ted
How much would it cost for me to order all my parts I can from RS and then
the rest from places you recommend. I would like to build one that would
get me at least a 10 ft arc, bigger the better.
Also, if you know anyone that is willing to sell one that meets that
criteria and doesn't cost and arm and leg let me know or ask them to get in
touch with me ASAP.
thanks
ml
