 I purchased a mini 12 volt neon transformer for car
neon installations and the directions explicitly
say...

"No Open Circuit Protection: Do not apply power to
transformer without neon tube hooked up. To do so will
kill transformer & void warranty"

The same result if input DC leads are reversed.

 This makes them useless for anything other than what
they were designed for. They do work great as a
portable neon tester.

Hi, there must be other supplies of neon power from 12
volts,it quite
popular around here to have some neon under your car
while cruisin'.
Maybe some of these shops that do car stereos might be
carrying the 
power
supplies. cul brian
