Odd Motor Mod...

Original poster: "Mike Novak by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-uswest-dot-net>" <acmnovak-at-msn-dot-com>

Hello All,
I was hoping someone might provide me with some info on modifying this odd
motor I aquired. The specs on the nameplate are as follows...

HP 1/2 HZ 60 PH1 CAP 10.00/370
V 115 RPM 1075/4SPD
A 7.9

But here's where things get sticky... The 4 speed thing. I want to modify
this thing for salient pole operation, but am unsure on the flats. I'm not
sure how many/ how big the flats should be. Although the RPM is listed as
1075, it has 3 speeds: "HI, MED, LO". What should I assume the RPM is?
This thing is made by GE and it has some really nice bearings, so I'm kinda
reluctant to scrap it. The shaft is like 5" long with a flat for a set
screw. I've done 7-9 motor mods so far and this one should be easy, pending
I can figure out how...
Thanks,

-Mike Novak
