An idea...May be

Hi list,

I think it's possible to build a TSG with only 2 electrode, I
explain: The idea come from the way high pressure sodium lamp
are trig, a 1 uS pulse of 5 KV 120 time by second is put over
the 200 V 60 cycle, the ballast represent a too high impedance to
short this pulse. Some plasma torch design use this technique
too. The problem; it's easy to have a high impedance for short
pulse with circuit build for 60 Hz but our primary circuit are for
around 300 KHz sometime more.

In resume if we can produce an HV pulse enough short the primary
circuit and the supply will be high impedance and you could trig
the gap directly.

One way to produce this pulse could be a nitrogen laser supply:
In these laser the supply is only 2 high DV/DT cap, you charge
the first one and the second one is charge true a really small
inductance, the pulse is so short that it arc across the inductance.

Please could you comment.

I scan a N laser supply please see it on Terry server:

P.S. I make a mistake with the picture parameter it's a little to
big but if you are really interested save it from your web
browser and open it with an application were you can change the
size I'll replace it soon
