Hi  Patrick!

    My first coil was basically identical to what you describe. I found it
on the web at http://freeweb.pdq-dot-net/headstrong/ind2.htm. I powered mine
with a couple of OBITS and beer bottle caps, but the primary/secondary was
the same as the one described here. I was also able to convert this to a
monopoler coil later by simply shifting the primary from the centre to one
end and retuning it. I managed to get 6" sparks from it at best. This design
could easily be scaled up for higher powerlevels as well. As a first coil I
reccomend a design like this because it eliminates the need for an RF
ground.
