Hi Jason,
I noticed that when I switched to a 2x resonant cap, the actual range of the
proper phase adjustmant became narrower ( I am using Johns phase shifter
circuit). Also when using the resonant cap, my safety would fire every few
seconds or so. When using the LTR cap I didn't get any safety firings once
the rotary was properly phased (causing smoother operation), and the
streamers seemed to look a little brighter also. It's certainly worth it.
The biggest advantage is that if something goes wrong with the rotary, and
the spacing is too wide on your safety gap, you won't get the ring up that
would have destroyed your NST or capacitor if you had used a resonant cap.
