Hi All...

Some time back I posted a question about a " WHATIZIT" situation and placed
the Item in question on
my website with a picture... I finally found out what is is ......  It is a
trigged spark gap!!!
rated for 50KV at 100A.

inside the ceramic cylinder is 2 spheres ( one with a hole in it and the
other with a sphere and
protruding shaft into the second sphere...)  a hi volt charge "ignites" the
low pressure gas into
ionization and the heavy current then arcs across the 2 spheres thus
conducting the rest of the
charge...

hmmmm  thinking more about that triggered spark gap ability now  ;)
