Hi Terry:

I've not been able to try this myself but I may have a way around the need
for the big power resistors you use on your trigger circuit.  See

Dorr.  This describes a way to modify a cheap dimmer that allows it to drive
an inductive load that we are all familiar with - an NST.  Seems equally
applicable to driving a trigger coil.
