Triggered RQ/TCBOR gap

Hello Coilers,

Now that the weather front has gone thru giving us more moderate
temperatures and much lower humidity, I finally got around to my
testing of the triggered RQ/TCBOR gap as I use on my 4 x 22 coil.

My gap has seven segments, so the trigger lead connects to the
middle or number 4 segment, and the trigger ground goes to the
RF ground point on my "Terry" filter.

Using the trigger circuit devised by Marc and Terry, save for a
150 watt "dummy load" compared to Terry's 400, it took me just a
few seconds to dial in the sweet spot on the dimmer control, and
WOW, I've never seen my coil perform so well!!

With around 1 KW input power I'm getting multiple 4 foot or more
streamers that are thick and nasty!! The coil's noise is like a
gutteral growl (F Res. 260 kHz.) and is loud enough that I have
to wear ear protection if I run it with the shop doors closed.

It sure makes the old RQ/TCBOR gap do it's business right to have
those triggering pulses applied. You guys sure developed a neat
concept with the GM HEIC/dimmer combo! Well done Marc & Terry!!
