Hi Jesse, 
There are many sites with answer to your question. A fairly comprehensive 
list of wire from bare to quad-thickness, insulated magnet wire can be found 
at:

This table gives not only the nominal size, but also the manufacturing 
tolerances. 
For a given coil, the wire length is X=pi*D*N*T where D is the actual coil 
diameter in inches, N is the number of turns, T is the thickness of wire in 
inches (from table). The height of the completed coil winding will be N*T 
inches. You can add about 2-5% for the "Ohcrap" factor.;-)
