I'll try to expand a little on what Rainer wrote.
The 1.6 x 10^-19 Joules is the energy gained by an electron in a field of 1
Volt.
That number, 1.6 X 10^-19 is Joules per electron which is the value of the
elementary charge in Coulombs, the charge of one electron. A volt is a Joule
per Coulomb and in that
coulomb are 1 / 1.6 x 10 ^-19 Coul / electron = 6.25 x 10 ^18 elect /Coul.
So a Volt is one Joule per 6.25 x 10 ^ 18 electrons = 1 Joul / Coul. A Volt.
The ev is just a small amount of energy (or mass). Too small for Tesla and
electrical
use. Hope I have helped 'splain this largely off-topic subject.
