william,
personally i find your coil and these post pertaining to it the most
interesting reading in a while.
at first thought i would never have figured it to work, but yet there
you are.
a very unique design that will be on my "i want to try it" list for
sure.
i was wondering why the major inductance is on the outside of the coil?
is it because of the length of wire per turn? i would "uneducatedly"
think the center with more turns per given area would have the higher
inductance's?
also, why only one primary turn, could a multi turn primary be used,
maybe a cone shape under the secondary with the high point in the center
or with the high point towards the outside? this could put the higher
coupling position at the lesser inductance end, giving a uniform couple
across the whole secondary. i imagine a fine tune for this type of coil
could be had by making some sort of linear actuator that raises and
lowers the topload "on the fly" so to speak, would it not?
many possibilities and fine work,
marc m.
