I would reconsider your wiring first - ther more sharp points (i.e. ends of
wire) that you get the more leaking you will get. Try to use either lead
free solder or just copper bus bars to connect all your gear up. I reckon
that the sparks were grounding through the table - a good way of testing
this would be to put the whole thing on a metal shet balanced on a PPP pipe
and connect a Hi-Volt meter up to it and the ground... just an idea but make
sure nothing';s touching the metal sheet!!!
