Hi Drew

First to reach resonance as you increase the cap value you need
to decrease the value of your primary inductance and you can do
it only on a certain limit. Example: imagine you have a coil 4"
in diameter the smallest primary you could practically use is 1
turn 5" diameter ( around 300 uH ) if your coil have a resonance
frequency of 200 kH you need a cap of 2.1 uF If you go with a
bigger cap you need a smaller primary not really possible (
calculated with Wintesla ). As John Freau could testified the
smaller the inductance the bigger the lost of power in the gap .

An other thing the cap you plan to use are electrolytic type not
design for pulse use and above all not make to see polarity reversal.
