Hi Jonathan, 

If you hook up (4) identical .001 uF capacitors in a series/parallel 
configuration, you'll still have a total capacitance of .001 uF. The 
7500 volt rating will be doubled to 15 kV, though. Are these plate 
glass capacitors? You may also check your '62 Plymouth ignition 
coil to make sure that it's not partially internally shorted. What kind 
of spark do you get from the ignition coil itself? You should get at   
least a 1" to 1 1/4" spark from the coil itself.
