SRSG phase control?

Hi All....

I remember some talk about controlling the phase control ( shift) of SRSG's
and was wondering if
anyone finally designed one that worked using a variac and what ever other
components???

If this has been accomplished, could you please list the parts needed and a
basic explination of
circuitry.
