RE: caps for EMMC use

Hi Michael:
As a member of the Product Development team at RS headquarters, I have
access to info (sometimes) that is not always on the packaging.

In this instance the caps (Cat. No. 272-1055) are "Metallized Polyesther"
type and I also have Pulse Rise Time figures. But, the operating voltage is
the killer. Since they are only 250V, you would need a whole bunch to get
anywhere near what you should have for a "bullet proof" MMC.

I needed a total value of .0117 mF -at-32KV for a 15kV/60mA NST Supply. I
achieved this with 100 caps. Each is .047-at-1600. If I had to do it with 250V
caps...well...I think you see where I'm going with this.
While I like to see anyone buy at RS, in this case I would recommend the
Panasonic line sold by Digi-Key that Terry Fritz advocates. They are
reasonable (not cheap) and they work well. Don't open the blister cards so
you can return them with your sales receipt in 30 days or less.

Cheers

Hey all!

I made a trip to my local radio shack today. I was in a search for some
good caps to use in my EMMC i am building. The one i had interest in is a
metalized-film capacitor which has a 1.0 mf cap. the price is 1.50 per cap.
would this be a good one to use? oh ya the voltage is 250WVDC. serial no. is
272-1055.
I purchased 24 of them and as long as they arent used, i can return them :)
i
was planning on making 2 strings of 12 caps/string.
