ignition coil pics...

hello
i dont know if i can call myself a coiler, since i
have not succesfully made a TC yet. but about 4 years
ago i made a drive circuit by accident for ignition
coils and flybacks...
it consists of an MOT thats stepped down to 300 volts
by a small 120 volt to 24 volt transformer...
the MOT output of 300 volts is connected to an MOT cap
and a small spark gap in a configuration much like
tesla coils...
this was one of the most satisfactory circuits that i
have made...the output is incredible yet it required
no brain work....(no dimmer switch either)
i could connect all sorts of coils...oil filled
canister type work the best because they dont
internally short out...

the best output is given by the GM coils...
last year i dipped one in insulation oil and got 5-6
inch arcs...
but the problem is that the more u increase the firing
distance the more likely u are to burn ur coil
my father is a mechanic so i have a lifetime supply :)
