hi steve,
one guy that i forgot about is roy b. golden>doctorroy-at-juno-dot-com, he has
about 25,000 tubes on the shelf and has been building vttc's for years.
i am in the process of thinking about trying to build a vttc myself so
your questions will help me also, except that it seems that you are less
of a novice then i? so far i have got a pair of 4cx800a or similar to
gu74b tubes and a bunch of caps, big, small, and in-between, i have also
just won a bid on a huge 800mhz GE amplifier and power supply unit that
i'm hoping i can scavenge some goodies out of? i got them cheap but
shipping is high on these monsters. there are some nice tubes on ebay
right now going cheap, i was going to bid these but the ceramics came up
and they just looked good on paper? 800 watts each and rock solid from
the research i've done? i paid $60.00 each so it doesn't look like this
is a cheap adventure, but if the amp and power supply pans out, i may
save there?
